Engage your preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten students with these fun hands-on Watermelon Activities and Centers.  This fun and engaging themed pack includes 8 watermelon activities to be used at the end of the school year or during the summer months.  This watermelon activity pack includes literacy and math resources.  These activities would be great for morning work tubs, early finishers and literacy centers.

Activities included:

  • Watermelon Uppercase Letter Match: Students match uppercase letters to form a watermelon slice.
  • Letter Ww Mat: Students name the letter and the letter sound. They then trace the letter with their finger and decorate the letters.
  • Watermelon Beginning Sounds: Students pick a card, name the picture and identify the beginning sound.  Next, they identify the letter that makes the corresponding beginning sound and cover them on the card.
  • Watermelon Prewriting Strips: Students trace the lines using dry erase markers or small manipulatives.
  • Watermelon Count and Stack Mats: There are 2 mats. One for numbers 1 to 10 and another for 11 to 20. Students identify the numbers on the mat then count and stack snap cubes to build counting towers. Students then practice writing numbers on the recording sheet.
  • Watermelon Patch Counting Mat: Students pick a watermelon number card and place it on the mat.  They identify the number then use play dough to form the corresponding number of watermelons and place them on the mat. This activity covers numbers 1-10.
  • Watermelon Seeds Counting Mat: Students pick a number card then place it on the counting mat.  Next, they identify the number, count out the corresponding number of seeds (black beans, beads, etc.) and place them on the watermelon.  This activity covers numbers 1 to 15.
  • Watermelon Play Dough Mat: Students build a watermelon using play dough.
